Gli Aerei: The Airplanes
In the small town of Villamarzana, located in Italy's Veneto region, stands an abandoned restaurant that once captivated visitors with its unique concept. The Michelangelo Da Vinci restaurant, affectionately known as "Gli Aerei" ("The Airplanes"), offered patrons the rare experience of dining inside two decommissioned aircraft—a Douglas DC-6 and a Tupolev TU-134A.
Opened in 2000, the restaurant quickly became a local attraction, drawing guests eager to enjoy meals within the fuselages of these iconic planes. The interior was adorned with replicas of Renaissance masterpieces, blending aviation history with artistic elegance.
Despite its initial success, the Michelangelo Da Vinci restaurant faced challenges that led to its closure in 2014. Since then, the site has remained abandoned, with the aircraft deteriorating over time. The once vibrant establishment now stands as a haunting relic, attracting urban explorers and photographers intrigued by its decaying beauty.
