Hidden in the remote Turgai region of Kazakhstan, an ancient geoglyph shaped like a swastika has puzzled archaeologists and historians for years. Dating back over 2,000 years, this massive earthwork is part of the Turgai Geoglyphs, a collection of over 50 geometric and symbolic shapes etched into the landscape. These enigmatic formations, visible only from above, are among the world’s most mysterious archaeological wonders.

A Unique Design

Unlike many ancient swastikas that feature a flat or two-dimensional design, this geoglyph is crafted with a unique three-arm spiral swastika. Built using a combination of mounded earth and wooden structures, it spans approximately 90 meters (295 feet) in diameter, making it visible from satellite imagery and aerial photography.

The Turgai Geoglyphs: An Archaeological Treasure

The swastika geoglyph is part of a larger network of geometric patterns discovered in 2007 by amateur archaeologist Dmitriy Dey. These formations include crosses, circles, squares, and lines, all constructed between 800 BCE and 500 CE. The purpose of these geoglyphs remains unknown, but theories suggest they may have been used for:
